Description10-110-106 LAW-FAMILY ...this course is designed to familiarize the student with basic legal concepts involved in the area of family relations. The primary emphasis will be in the field of divorce. (Associate Degree Prerequisite: 10-110-101, Paralegal Intro/Legal Ethics with a "C" or better; Technical Diploma Corequisite: 10-110-101, Paralegal Intro/Legal Ethics)

  1. List the basic and technical requirements for marriages and other domestic relationships
  2. Differentiate between the different types of contracts affecting marriage and other domestic relationships
  3. Differentiate between annulment, divorce and separation actions, and their affects on marriages
  4. Explain the methods of obtaining client information with respect to legal actions affecting domestic relations
  5. Draft various pleadings and documents relevant to the domestic relations field.
  6. Explain the procedural steps involved in the various types of domestic relations cases.

  12. Describe the function of the paralegal in family law practice
